Everyone of us has listen about meetings at the work, and in some cases people saying that they try to avoid them o simply that they get bored with it. There are people catalogue these like a waste of time, but others keep defending then. With the agile practices, the people try to do these meetings the most efficiently possible, that implies that it has to be fast.

But, what is the main purpose of the meetings at work? These are made to discuss issues that we have in our work, schedule new tasks, enables right decision making in conjunction with coworkers, among others. All of these to help in the growth of the organization.

In Scrum, every day of a sprint, the team has to have a meeting, preferably in the morning to lead people know what they have to do this day and how to achieve it. It has to be in the same place and at the same time every day. It is supposed to be strictly for fifteen minutes.

Every member of the Scrum team has to respond the next three questions:

What did you do yesterday?

What will you do today?

Are there any impediments in your way?

And in some cases, the people just respond these and there is not more at the meeting. But, is its suppose to be in that way? Why people don’t get more involved in the meeting and bring more of them?

I know that it has to be fifteen minutes exactly and no more and every people has to be committed to talk, but the main idea is share knowledge with coworkers, help each others to grow and improve ourselves. If you share your ideas and you are wrong, the other people have to correct you and you are going to learn. In other case, if you are not wrong, the other people will learn of you and the team is going to be benefited. That is the way that we participate efficiently in a scrum meeting, contributing to others.

In conclusion, in a work team we should share or ideas in order to improve our team and at the same time, to learn from others and to expand our base of knowledge. We have to trust in ourselves and miss the fear of make mistakes. This would help us to grow, no only at the work, also with friends and family.
